The Dragons Claw
The dragon has long been a powerful symbol of Japanese culture representing wisdom and spirit. A dragon is said to breathe a kind of smoke which can be transformed at will into fire or water. It lives with equal ease in the sky, in the water, or on the land. Dwelling in the dark caverns of the earth, with lungs of fire, wings of a bird and scales of a fish, the dragon epitomizes the four elements of the ancient world, unifying them into a single presence.
(Note: 3 toed dragons are generally of Japanese culture, while 5 toed dragons are usually of Chinese origin. However, some of the first ancient Chinese manuscripts do depict dragons of nobility or royalty as being 3 toed.)

Yin-Yang ~ Fire & Water
Besides the obvious meaning of the traditional yin-yang symbol (i.e.: symbolizing both balance and continual change, dark and light, female and male, hard and soft), we have brought forth the symbolism of fire and water.
Fire: Inner power or chi/ ki Water: Fluidity of motion.
The color red: Symbolic of the fire or universal power of Reiki within oneself which follows the traditional Japanese healing arts.
The color aqua: Symbolizes the ability one has to transform from soft to hard, if necessary, just as water turns to ice and the cycle repeats.
Notice how they flow, merging together (not against each other). They become part of each other by using each of their strengths and weaknesses.

Moon & Eclipse of the Sun
The moon and sun are part of the traditional yin-yang theory of balance and contrast.
Moon: The moon is used here as a symbol of adversity or obstacles that may stand in ones path.
Eclipse of the Sun: This sign is symbolic for two reasons: The first being that the colors of the sun/eclipse(black, gold and red) are the traditional colors of the Kempo system. Secondly, the eclipse itself signifies that even though the moon(obstacles or adversity as stated above) may be blocking the suns light, hope(the red portion of the sun, also in Japanese tradition) will always remain.
